Ernie Els is staging his ``Els for Autism'' golf challenge

Inside the 1st year, case included 1,700 golfers, 9,000 donors and raised $1.8 million.

The cash is going toward a $30 million education and research facility in florida for youngsters with autism. Els' son, Ben, is autistic, and Els continues to be driven in recent years to assist families deal with kids autism and also to help locate a cure.

Els said together with his own money and separate fundraising, she has reached the $9 million mark toward building the guts.

I met people, numerous families, where the families have three kids, and many types of three of them have autism at the level where they have to take care of their kids. They cannot even go to a school or anything.
